ABOUT MANALAPAN

Our Manalapan is a unique township, offering unparalleled beauty and a superb way of life to those who reside here. Thought to be named after the Town of Manalapan in New Jersey, the Indian name means "Good Bread".

Manalapan remains a small and quiet community, dedicated to maintaining an exceptional level of services, controlled development and a conservative approach to government.

With a Commission-Manager form of government, Manalapan offers full police and fire services to its residents, and provides water from the municipal water plant located in Hypoluxo.

Located on Hypoluxo Island and within the Town of Lantana, Point Manalapan is the gated portion of Manalapan which occupies the southern third of the Island. The town library is located on the Point and all residents are welcome and urged to become library members.

According to a Town survey in 1990, approximately 393 year round residents swell to a total population of 495 when seasonal or other non-residential homeowners are included. Only a few homes are available as rentals and only 4% of the residential community is designated as club and commercial.

With an eye to the future, the Town Commission of Manalapan continues to resist the pressures of large scale developers, vowing to keep Manalapan a low density, residential community of beauty and quality.

In approving plans for the newly developed Ritz Carlton Hotel, the Manalapan Town Commission required the incorporation of "The LaCoquille Club", a modern version of a prestigious former club of the same name, which used to grace the same grounds.

The original LaCoquille Club was founded almost forty years ago on the Ritz Carlton site and remained a world renowned landmark for decades. The new Club was written into the Ritz Carlton development plans and made an integral basis for Town approval of the hotel. The Club provides a unique opportunity for good friends to enjoy the privileges of quality and excellence in an opulent setting.

The LaCoquille Club provides for levels of membership and grants privileges of access and use of the hotel on a priority basis. Town residents and property owners are the first priority listed for the Club and upon registration, are to be considered Club members without imposition of an initiation fee or annual dues. They are permitted to use the Ritz Carlton facilities on an equal basis with registered guests and shall be charged for such uses at rates equal to those charged to Ritz Carlton registered guests.

Facilities include a private "for members only" Club room, state-of-the-art Spa and Fitness Center, as well as pool, beach and tennis facilities.
